Royal Television Society (Midlands) Awards 2009
- Rewired PR was brought on board to deliver the PR and Event Management for 2009’s Royal Television Society Midlands Awards held at Birmingham Town Hall on Thursday 29th October 2009.
- The Royal Television Society Midlands Awards has taken place for over 20 years, and is one of the most high profile events on the region’s media calendar. Award categories cover news, drama, innovation and multimedia, personalities, actors and actresses, and independent and regional programming.
- With support from Regional Screen Agency, Screen West Midlands, the objective was to reinvigorate the awards dinner to reflect the changing nature of the media industry
- Rewired was required to manage all aspects of the event including venue hire, catering, guest and host management, including travel and accommodation plus sourcing and securing a high profile host from the media industry. We worked closely with external suppliers who delivered set dressing, audio-visual support, stage management and show calling.
- Rewired established the event theme as ‘The Evolution of Media’ and carried this throughout the Awards marketing, venue dressing and theming of all activity.
- Rewired secured additional sponsorship across the public and private sectors.
- Channel 4 News Anchor, Krishnan Guru-Murthy and TV personality and classical musician Myleene Klass were booked as the high profile hosts and the attendance of Robert Lindsey added an additional celebrity factor.
- Guests were treated to entertainment from The Electric Film Orchestra and Birmingham Conservatoire who play several pieces with Myleene Klass.
- The sold out event was attended by over 330 guests with demand for extra seats.
- Rewired raised over £20,000 of sponsorship, in addition to support from Screen West Midlands.
- Myleene Klass, Robert Lindsey and Krishnan Guru-Murthy attracted national press photographers and coverage of the event was achieved in regional press; The Birmingham Post and ITV Central News.
- Below is some of the feedback that Rewired received from industry guests:
- “...what a fantastic evening. The staging and timing was fresh and pacy.”
- “Thank you first of all for your teams organisation of the awards last night, we all had a brilliant time.”
