British Curry Awards Success for Lasan

L-R: Aktar Islam and Jabbar Khan
Birmingham’s Lasan Restaurant has retained its prestigious British Curry Award for the third consecutive year.
Widely recognised as the most high profile event in the spice industry calendar, the 5th annual British Curry Awards took place last night at The Battersea Evolution in London. The evening was hosted by newsreader and journalist, Sir Trevor McDonald, and attended by over 1,600 industry guests and dignitaries.
Lasan kept the Midlands title at the British Curry Awards, which recognised 10 restaurants from a record number of over 2,700 nominations.
Based in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter on St Paul’s Square, Lasan was founded by Jabbar Khan in 2002. The restaurant has picked up a string of awards including being named in Men’s Health magazine’s Healthiest Restaurant Awards 2009. Lasan is also recommended in the Michelin Guide and listed in The Independent and The Times ‘Top Ten of Indian Restaurants in the UK’.
Jabbar Khan, Director of the Lasan Restaurant Group said, “The British Curry Awards are regarded as the Oscars of the spice restaurant industry, and are the most high profile accolade that we could wish for.
“Holding a British Curry Award is a real mark of quality, and I’m delighted that we have successfully held the title for the third year running. Our thanks go to all of our customers for their continued support.”
