Cadbury Employees Get Green Fingers
GREEN-FINGERED EMPLOYEES GIVE HOSPICE GARDEN A MAKEOVER
Cadbury World employees are celebrating this week after completing a garden renovation at St Mary’s Hospice, Birmingham. The 18-month project has seen the green-fingered volunteers create a landscaped garden and area for wildlife conservation.
With help from the Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust, the Cadbury team completed the makeover at St Mary’s Hospice; clearing overgrown foliage and 15ft shrubbery. After raising over £1300, they also built benches and garden furniture for patients and visitors to enjoy, as well as a range of butterfly houses, insect nests and bird boxes, to help the local wildlife flourish.
The project was spearheaded by Ann Jolly, Visitor Operations Team at Cadbury World, who was joined by over twenty staff in the 18-month period.
Ann said, “There is a great sense of achievement amongst the team now that we can see the end-result of our hard work. It has been a journey for us all and we are truly grateful for the support we have received from St Mary’s Hospice staff, the Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust, and everyone who has donated money.
“Although we have completed the garden, the task is by no means over; we will be coming back to the garden regularly to tidy up, plant new seeds and check up on the wildlife. Working with our local Wildlife Trust has been fantastic and they have helped us all understand how to help our local environment. I hope the staff, patients and visitors using the garden will get as much pleasure out of it as we did.”
This project is one of a number of joint initiatives between Cadbury and The Wildlife Trusts. For more information on The Wildlife Trusts, visit www.wildlifetrusts.org. For more information on Cadbury’s Purple Goes Green sustainability commitment, visit www.dearcadbury.com.
