Cadbury lends helping hand to cat sanctuary
Employees from FOUR Brand Communications have taken part in a Community Day at Cramar Cat Sanctuary this week, as part of a company-wide initiative to encourage employee volunteering and team building.
Ten employees from the Cadbury-owned design agency carried out a series of activities at the cat rescue site, including painting, gardening and site maintenance. The event was hosted by FOUR Brand Communications as part of an initiative that encourages every employee to donate a full working day to volunteering and community work every year. Team members from across the agency took part, including design, print, events and management staff.
Helen Shute, Head of Account Management at FOUR Brand Communications said:
“Volunteering has become an important part of FOUR’s philosophy and we all enjoying getting involved in the local community. As well as a personal sense of achievement, volunteering helps with team building, encouraging us to work together and learn more about one another.
“We all thoroughly enjoyed working at Cramar and although we were tempted to play with the cute kittens all day, we ended up doing a hard day’s graft. We were so inspired by the staff and their dedication to the animals that we wanted to make the biggest impact we could. Although we only made small changes around the Sanctuary, we hope they have a big effect on the staff, customers and cats!”
Based in Hopwood, Birmingham, Cramar Cat Sanctuary currently houses over 60 cats and kittens. In addition to rescue and rehabilitation it offers a five-star Boarding facility, which helps fund the Sanctuary, as well as an on-site veterinary surgery. The centre also boasts a unique enclosure, The Paddocks, providing permanent housing for cats unsuitable for domestic surroundings. Lisa Dick, an employee at FOUR Brand Communications was the inspiration for the Community Day, following several months’ volunteering at the centre.
FOUR Brand Communications is based at the Cadbury site in Bournville and is wholly-owned by the confectionery company. It handles projects for some of the key Cadbury brands including Wispa and Creme Egg, as well as external brands such as Duchy Originals. FOUR consciously supports the Cadbury volunteering and fundraising agenda, and throughout the year they host a number of community days for the team. Previous activities include two days with The National Trust and clear-up days for Acorns Children’s Charity.
