Cadbury Staff Help Pave Way at Shire Country Park

A team of Cadbury employees has helped pave the way at Shire Country Park, near Chinn Brooke, during an all-day pursuit to create a new walkway for visitors.
The Service Delivery Management Team, based at Cadbury Bournville, spent a gruelling eight hours opening up, clearing and paving a 40-metre path at the local park. The team worked with park rangers and two work placement students to complete the pathway, which will be used by dog walkers and the local community.
The original area, usually overgrown and muddy, was replaced by ten tonnes of stones donated by the Cadbury team.
Sofia Figueiredo, IT Service Delivery Manager for Supply Chain at Cadbury, who lead the team said:
“It seemed like a very daunting task when we approached the area at the beginning of the day, but with the help of my colleagues, the rangers and the students, we managed to complete the pavement.
“We’re thrilled with the result; not only is it a great sense of achievement but we also know how much it means to the locals. The park ranger said they’d been waiting for eight years for this to happen, so we hope this encourages more people to use the park and visit the beautiful surroundings.”
The Shire Country Park comprises the Millstream Way, following the course of the River Cole between Yardley Wood and Small Heath, the Chinn Brook Recreating Ground and Coxmoor Woods. It also includes a number of satellite sites, including Moseley Bog LNR.
This comes as the latest team challenge from Cadbury Bournville employees who are encouraged, through the Community programme, to take part in a series of volunteering and fundraising activities to help the local community. For more information on Cadbury visit www.cadbury.com.
