Cadbury wins for World of Work Scheme

Cadbury’s Sheffield site is celebrating after receiving a prestigious Community Partnership Award from the Food and Drink Federation.
The team from Cadbury were presented with a silver award in the Education category to recognise the impact of their World of Work programme. The World of Work initiative was launched in 2007 to support young people studying for Diplomas in Manufacturing, Engineering, Leisure and Tourism with real world work experience.
The scheme has been developed in partnership with Sheffield City Council and local schools, and Cadbury has committed to widening participation to the programme by involving other local businesses. Over the past two years, Cadbury has supported over 192 students across both its Sheffield and Birmingham sites, and delivers 12 World of Work programmes each year.
Now in their ninth year, the Food and Drink Federation’s Community Partnership Awards recognise the contribution of the UK food and drink sector to the local communities in which it operates.
Speaking about the award David Presho, Production Engineer for Mints said:
“Colleagues at Cadbury have seen first hand how the World of Work scheme has made a positive impact on the learning of young people, and we’ve been delighted to have the opportunity to work with Sheffield City Council to support local schools in this way.
“To receive a Community Partnership Award from the Food and Drink Federation is a great honour and testament to the work of our colleagues and partners in developing a scheme that can make a real difference to the education of our future workforce.”
Gary Drabble, Engineering Coordinator at Sheffield City Council said:
“It has been a fantastic opportunity to work with colleagues based at Cadbury. This scheme has had a tremendously positive impact upon young people in the city. It has also provided a model for other employers to follow for getting involved with working with schools.”
