Having performed all over the world from China to Amsterdam, Antwerp and the US, Tao Dance Theatre will be showcasing two of its most recent works at Birmingham’s dx. The company’s Weight x 3, a piece concerned with the perceptions of physical practice, will be followed by the company’s latest work, 2.
Throughout his work, choreographer Tao Ye has made it his mission to reconnect the body to its creative abilities in order to re-establish a true sense of identity. As a result, each performance is deeply engaging and thought provoking, expressing the concept of two souls in conversation.
David Massingham, Artistic Director of DanceXchange (dx), adds: “Choreographer Tao Ye and his company have impressed audiences all over China and Europe, and we are excited to welcome them to the dx for their UK premiere. At dx, we are dedicated to showcasing international talent in Birmingham”.
Tao Dance Theatre will be performing as part of dx’s anniversary season, celebrating its tenth year at Birmingham Hippodrome. The performance will be taking place on Friday 11th November. Performances by Company Decalage and a world premiere by Aakash Odedra complete the special anniversary line-up.
