Drum up some excitement this February!
This half term arts and cultural centre The Drum is being transformed into an Olympic inspired hub of activity for the entire family.

Between 21st – 25th February The Drum, based in Aston, Birmingham is inviting families to take part in a series of workshops including photography, rapping and health and fitness. The activities have been organised as part of The Drum’s creative volunteer programme, MOB. Inspired by the Olympic and Paralympics values the MOB project is attempting to raise awareness of the seven values through a series of public performances.
During February half term MOB will be taking over The Drum and has devised a family friendly programme of free activities for all age groups including sporting games and a variety of dance and rapping workshops. Through the use of equipment, images and videos each room will be transformed and families can have a go at different activities including wii sport and creating workshops aimed at younger children.
Ruth Richardson, MOB Project Manager said:
“The Drum is one of Birmingham’s hidden gems, offering a wide-range of participatory and engagement programmes for all ages. This half term we are delighted to be able to work alongside the MOB volunteers to develop fun activities for all the family, young and old.”
“We’re always encouraging more people to take part in our projects, and MOB is currently organising the next singing and dance infused flashmob for the 26th Feb so now’s a great time to get involved. The theme is Respect and we’ll be performing around Birmingham and at an exciting secret location in London on the 5th March! Everyone’s welcome so if you fancy getting into the 2012 spirit come along.”
Based in Aston, The Drum is the national centre for Black British arts and is dedicated to helping promote contemporary arts and culture within its local community.
