Fashion’s Iconic Designers Showcase at Style in the City Catwalk

The Sunday Times Style in the City has announced details of this year’s Catwalk Show with the help of model and TV presenter Emma Willis. Some of the world’s top designers have been confirmed as part of the show, which is taking place at the three day fashion and beauty event in Birmingham.
From 24-26 September, The Mailbox, Birmingham will be home to the official Style in the City Catwalk, which will see six thirty-minute shows per day – bringing the drama and spectacle of international runways to the heart of Birmingham.
Emma Willis will be presenting the shows and taking visitors through a journey of Autumn/Winter Fashion trends. From feathers and velvet to shaped and draped, leather to disco and accessories to lingerie, this year’s show is set to be the biggest and best yet.
Birmingham’s most stylish retailers will feature in the show unveiling their latest A/W 09 collections, including Bullring, Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser, M&S, Pavilions and Selfridges. They will be teaming up with the world’s top designers; from Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Vivenne Westwood, to Armani Exchange, DKNY Jeans and Roland Mouret. There will also be high street brands including All Saints, French Connection, Karen Millen, LK Bennett and Zara, as well as a selection of the city’s leading independent stores.
Kevin Breese, General Manager at Harvey Nichols and Chair of Retail Birmingham Marketing Group, said:
“We are really excited about Emma presenting this year’s Catwalk Show; not only is she a Birmingham girl but she’s also a great presenter. Coming from a fashion background means she will give the audience an insight into the fashion world, as well as explaining the inspiration behind each of the collections and trends.
“This year’s catwalk will focus on the key looks for Autumn/Winter that every fashionista will want to know. We are working with some of the world’s best designers and retailers to deliver an exciting and groundbreaking show.”
Emma is not the only Birmingham export to grace this year’s stage; acclaimed fashion designer Osman Yousefzada will be returning to the city to show his exclusive Collection at an invite-only preview evening. Graduates from Birmingham City University will also be showing their collections in a special public show on Thursday evening.
The Catwalk Show is being produced and styled by Birmingham-based Adage Events, with make-up from MAC Cosmetics and hair by Francesco Group using Wella Professionals products.
As well as the latest catwalk trends, Style in the City will see TV favourite Gok Wan hosting a series of live makeovers and Q&A’s as part of his ‘style sessions’ at Bullring, a beauty and pampering area, The Oasis, at Pavilions, and an exclusive Jewel Room at The Mailbox.
Tickets start from £19 and include a designer goodie bag, seat in the catwalk show and style sessions, as well as VIP transport between venues. For more information and to book tickets, visit www.styleinthecityevent.co.uk.
