FleetMilne lends a Helping Hand
A team of employees from Birmingham residential agency FleetMilne have transformed the garden of a disabled boy from Dudley.

The FleetMilne team helped to renovate the garden of Zak Macefield from Dudley as part of the WellChild Charity’s Helping Hand Project. The charity is the national organisation for sick children and helps to provide care, support and research. The Helping Hands project was set up to allow companies to volunteer at the homes of sick children directly improving their quality of life.
Five year old Zak suffers from Kabuki Syndrome, needing twenty-four hour care and preventing him from being able to go and play in the park. FleetMilne helped to make Zak’s garden more accessible and wheelchair friendly by creating a path through the garden, building a specially adapted disabled swing and producing raised flower beds for Zak to enjoy.
FleetMilne is keen to continue supporting local charities and has recently agreed to become a sponsor of The Demons of Tune Charity Gig in aid of St. Mary’s Hospice in October.
Nicola Fleet-Milne, Managing Director at FleetMilne said:
“It was an incredibly rewarding experience and we’re delighted to have played a part in helping to make Zak’s life better. Zak’s a lovely little boy and we’re keeping our fingers crossed that the English weather stays dry long enough for him to enjoy spending time in his new garden. We’ve always been very passionate about supporting local charities and are now looking forward to donning our seventies gear for the charity gig in October.”
Lee Trunks, Project Manager at WellChild’s Helping Hands said:
“I’m delighted with the way the project went as we were able to make a real difference to the garden. I’d like to thank the staff from FleetMine for putting their heart and soul into the job and doing their bit to improve the life of a seriously ill young person. They worked hard and kept on smiling until the end.”
