Millennium Point celebrates ten magical years

Stars from the Harry Potter film franchise brought a touch of the silver-screen to Birmingham as Millennium Point celebrated a decade of success with its BIG 10th Birthday Party.
As well as playing with oversized party games and enjoying larger-than-life circus acts, guests at the event had the opportunity to meet James and Oliver Phelps, who played the infamous Weasley twins in the Harry Potter series.
The pair, originally from Sutton Coldfield, said: “We’re both huge fans of the building and, being local boys, are tremendously proud to be associated with a Millennium Project that is right on our doorstep and boasts such fantastic facilities.”
The celebration was a true birthday party, with music, cake, games and an extra-large card signed by guests. In attendance were competition winners, volunteers who helped promote the anniversary, local VIPs, and stakeholders and trustees from Millennium Point.
Sir Bernard Zissman, Chairman of Millennium Point Trust Board, remarked: “I’m thrilled to see Millennium Point celebrating ten brilliant years and the success of today’s party is testament to the wonderful team involved with running the site. While today is about recognising our achievements, it also represents an enormous thank you to the many tenants and guests who have helped us achieve these successes.”
The Millennium Point complex represents England’s biggest Millennium Project outside of London and has welcomed over 1 million visitors through its doors every year since opening. It houses a host of tenants from the private and education sectors, and will soon be home to the largest independent digital 3D cinema screen in the Midlands, showing a wider range of films than ever before.
Acting chief executive of Millennium Point, Karen Stead, commented: “Everyone is excited to see what the future holds and we’re confident that we can go from strength to strength as Eastside is redeveloped with Millennium Point at its heart.”
