Millennium Point looks at the Big Picture

The project manager of a world record breaking arts campaign, which was held at Millennium Point in Birmingham, is being profiled as part of the building’s 10th Birthday celebrations.
Kerry Endsor, who lives in Tamworth, is taking part in the ‘My Millennium Point’ campaign which is profiling ten very different visitors to Millennium Point in the run up to the much anticipated celebrations in September 2011.
Kerry oversaw one of the West Midlands’ most successful, colourful and collaborative arts projects – The Big Picture, which took place between January and July 2008.
The Big Picture, funded by Arts Council England, encouraged Midlanders to participate in visual arts by taking and submitting photos and attending photography workshops and events at venues throughout the region.
In August 2008 all of the submitted photos were unveiled at Millennium Point to create a piece of public art and the world’s largest photo mosaic.

Kerry Endsor of Smarty Pants Marketing, said:
“Only Millennium Point had the capacity to accommodate such a large project in such a central location. With the help of everyone at Thinktank, we were able to secure space for three weeks to construct the 288 mosaic panels needed to incorporate all 113,000 photos that were submitted.
“By displaying the mosaic outside Millennium Point the public that had helped to create the artwork were able to walk around the entire piece and really appreciate it. I must say a big thank you to everyone involved in the Big Picture project and everyone at Millennium Point for their help and support.”
Kerry continued:
“Millennium Point is a great space and I hope the building will continue to get involved in arts projects. The facilities are fantastic and with the space available, there is the scope to do some really creative things.”
Nick Winterbotham, Chief Executive of Millennium Point and Thinktank, said:
“Millennium Point is dedicated to promoting regional talent in the arts and culture sector; the Big Picture is just one example of this. The project was a huge success and Kerry’s hard work was a key factor in that success. We are continuing to host a range of creative projects at Millennium Point which is really exciting for not only the individuals involved but for Birmingham as a whole.”
