Punch Records host ‘Is Black Music Dead?’ Seminar on Monday
On Monday, Punch Records will host the first in a series of free music seminars as part of their Tuned On programme.
‘Is Black Music Dead?’ will explore whether Black music events are still successful or if the red tape and fears of violence surrounding them has made it harder for promoters and organisers, under continued pressure from police and local authorities.
The high profile panellists will discuss the implementation of the 696 form in London, which makes promoters highlight any events that attract a BME crowd.

Akala
Confirmed speakers include Akala (Hip Hop Shakespeare Company & brother of Ms Dynamite), D’n’B star MC Magika, Mo from The TickerSellers and Tyson from BMG, an event security firm in Birmingham.
There will also be two representatives from the Licensing and Planning unit at West Midlands Police on the panel.
So, whether you plan or promote events, or just go to them, you might want to check out the hot topic and find out the future of Black music.
