Ten points of view about ten-acious Millennium Point

What do a 62-year-old IMAX super-fan, Lord Digby Jones and a teacher from Great Barr School in Birmingham all have in common?
The answer is that they, along with seven other volunteers are helping to showcase the many facilities on offer at the Birmingham development, Millennium Point, in the run up to its 10th birthday.
The campaign, entitled ‘My Millennium Point’, will involve ten very different visitors to the project in the run up to the much anticipated tenth anniversary celebrations in September 2011.
Whilst the outside aesthetics of the building have split opinion in the past, Millennium Point’s combination of business, education and entertainment attracts over 1 million visitors each year.
Super-fan Graham Bleakman has watched the last 16 films screened at the IMAX cinema inside Millennium Point dating back to April 2009, and will feature in the campaign.
Mr Bleakman, aged 62, said:
“I first went to an IMAX screening at Grand Canyon in USA while on a coach-tour holiday of the Western States some ten years ago. I was at once impressed by the quality of picture and sound delivered for an IMAX documentary presentation. The immediate sensory impact is mesmerizing.
“It’s terrific to have IMAX brought to us all here in Birmingham. No need to travel to Bradford, London, or North America. We have our own IMAX experience on our own doorstep!”
Other volunteers featured in the campaign include a local school teacher and employees from ASpire - Aspergers People into Real Employment part of Autism West Midlands, who regularly place people at Millennium Point.
Nick Winterbotham, Chief Executive at Millennium Point said:
“Millennium Point will be 10 years old in September 2011 and is a positive example of a millennium project that has stood the test of time. We have so many varied facilities that cater for a wide range of visitors. I’m excited and intrigued to hear some of the interesting stories from the people that use the attraction through the ‘My Millennium Point’ campaign.
