This Thursday sees Mohammed Ali’s ‘Writing on the Wall’ take place at The REP, and this weekend it was featured in the Guardian Guide and Independent’s ‘The New Review’ supplement.

The Birmingham-based aerosol artist, also known as Aerosol Arabic, is finally opening the doors on his dynamic live art and poetry event on Thursday 21 January, with support from Punch Records.

Best-known for his high profile (and sometimes political) murals around the city - and across the world - Mohammed will create art in and around The REP's workshop space for a live audience. He will be joined on stage by three leading international poets, including Birmingham's 2006 Poet Laureate, Dreadlock Alien, 9-year poet Zena Edwards, and American star of HBO's Def Poetry programme, Amir Sulaiman. Inspired by the theme of '3’, Writing on the Wall will see live poetry and painting blend seamlessly in front of, and all around, a live audience, with direction from renowned Hip Hop theatre producer Jonzi D.

Mohammed's work has already received worldwide recognition and he has featured on BBC Newsnight and CNN, as well as receiving an award from The Southbank Show. So it’s fantastic to see him gaining recognition from two of the country’s leading newspapers.
